Activities

Community is important to Genesee Chapter, NSDAR, members. We work to ensure the public is aware of the three objects of the Daughters of the American Revolution:  


Promotion of Education

  • Donate to all DAR Schools, state scholarship fund, and Junior programs

  • Support the Labels for Education program

  • Participate in the DAR Good Citizens program in local schools

  • Members volunteer at the Flint Public Library, Flint Genealogy Society, and Genesee County Court House for assistance with genealogy research
     

Patriot Endeavor

  • Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony
  • Lap blankets and personal products donated to veterans at Saginaw Veteran's Hospital
  • Special luncheon programs with SAR and other patriotic lineage organizations

  • Members volunteer for Board of Elections

  • Annual Constitution Week display at the Flint Public Library, obtain Constitution Week proclamations, and luncheons to celebrate Constitution Week and Flag Day

  • Members hand out materials at Naturalization ceremonies and our chapter chairman attends quarterly meetings with the NIS

     

Historic Preservation

  • Rededication of Revolutionary War Patriot's Graves

  • Genealogy workshops with local Historical Societies

  • Donate books to the DAR Library, Michigan State Library, Flint Public Library, and the Genesee District Library

  • Participate in Revolutionary War Reenactments in Flint, MI

      2018 July 4th Parade 


 2011 Bertha Neal Flag Program  presented by Dawn Bastain
 and  Margie Neal.  Flag facts were given  along with a 15 page
 coloring book  to 254 students of the school.  This  program
 received first place at the 121st Continental Congress NSDAR.  






 June 2012, installation of new officers by then
 State Regent Pat Dennert.
 
     2011 Memorial Day Parade in Linden.
